Alejandro Cegarra accompanied a group of young men in Cuba with his Leica M (Typ 240). In the past, trans and homosexuals in Cuba had a tough time. Homosexual practices between consenting adults have only been legal since 1979, but the State does not yet recognize homosexual partnerships.

Alejandro Cegarra
Born in 1989 in Caracas, Venezuela, where he still lives today. After studying photography, he worked as a photographer for the local newspaper Ultimas Noticias. Allejandro Cegarra started working freelance for the Associated Press in 2014 – in the same year he won the Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award.
