04/09/2017, Named after the inventor of the 35mm camera, the Oskar Barnack Award has been given out annually since 1980. To participate in the 37th edition, photographers are invited to submit their entries until 10 April 2017. Their work should address the interaction between man and the environment. With this very broad theme, the competition allows for a wide scope of creative development and individual ideas.

In addition to the main award, participants under 25 are also able to apply for the Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award. The winners stand to receive Leica camera systems to the value of 10,000 euros, along with a cash prize of 10,000 euros (newcomer award) and 25,000 euros (main award). The ten finalists will be awarded 2,500 euros each.
