Sinking oil prices are changing the world, redistributing wealth and power. Alejandro Cegarra reveals the effects on oil-dependent Venezuela. 95 percent of the country's income from exports comes from the sale of oil. The lower price of the commodity has a direct impact: supermarkets are empty, the government is having a lot of difficulty keeping order, and the country risks bankruptcy in 2015.

Alejandro Cegarra

Born in 1989 in Caracas, Venezuela, where he still lives today. After studying photography, he worked as a photographer for the local newspaper Ultimas Noticias. Allejandro Cegarra started working freelance for the Associated Press in 2014 – in the same year he won the Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award.
