12/12/2015, December 12: The strong colour contrast between the blue wall and red shirt in Cienfuegos, Cuba, caught the attention of Edouard Bracame. With the increasing popularity of colour photography, the red shirt school of photography was pioneered by National Geographic in the 40s, promoting the idea of placing a piece of colourful clothing in the picture, to strengthen the impact in the print and to give a push to the new medium of colour photography.
