10/12/2014, The exhibition Paradise Stockholm by Joakim Kocjancic will be showing at Le Place'Art Photo in Paris from 10 to 31 October 2014.
The title may seem somewhat misleading: Paradise Stockholm does not depict the Swedish capital in idyllic sunset scenes. Instead, the Milan-born photographer has created a series of moody black and white images that reflect his personal relationship with Scandinavia's largest city. The title was 'lifted' from a pleasure steamer of the same name, which leaves Stockholm Harbour every night so that guests can enjoy a luxurious night at sea.
With an often playful approach to depicting his subjects, Kocjancic shows that photography is able to present a city in an entirely new light. His analogue black and white images show a different type of paradise, another kind of beauty – direct and full of energy.
