Info
The coastal city of Zurawah in the north west of the country is a catchment basin for migrants who have to cross the Sahara on their way to Europe. Tens of thousands of them passed through Zurawah in 2015: many of them wait there to cross over the Mediterranean, some turn around and many remain stranded in the city because they have no money to continue the journey. But with the growing number of the inhabitants, the city also draws smugglers and armed groups.
