Between rigid control and blazing emotions – Moises Saman spent time in Libya taking photos for the ‘New York Times’. Under the watchful eye of the Gaddafi regime, he captured images of staged demonstrations, mourning and destruction. LFI reports on his experiences in the civil war zone.

Moises Saman
Moises Saman was born in Lima, Peru in 1974. He grew up in Spain and studied communications and sociology in the USA. He started working as a professional photographer in New York and became a Staff Photographer at ‘New York Newsday’. Since 2011 he has been reporting from conflict zones around the world, with a focus on Afghanistan and Iraq. Saman has won a World Press Photo Award, has been a Magnum nominee since 2001, and lives in New York.
